Naples Peach, inspired by the richly coloured buildings in Naples. In particular the orange/ peachy coloured buildings which provided a stark contrast to the greenery dotted about the city. The side streets of Naples bustle with energy, you feel the energy of neighbours gathering on different buildings and communicating across the streets. Alexandra has captured this. Men and woman gather at the top of buildings and in the street below. Men are smoking, a couple is dancing, a man is carrying a plate of food to a neighbours house, a business woman who has just been shopping walks through the street. To the right of the painting an older man who is seated talks to his friend. Naples bustles with old and new energy.
The palm trees are a focal point of the painting and comment on the physical beauty of the city; located so close to Vesuvius the city is rich in greenery. The location of the city being so close to an active volcano also adds to the chaos and vibrancy and uniqueness of the place. In Naples Peach geometric shapes collide and transform over the canvas- elaborating the chaotic, explosive but also harmonic qualities to the city.
