These works engage with circularity and perspective, drawing the viewer in even as the characters seem to be trying to escape. They consider the entry point into art and engage with the viewer, asking them to consider this for themselves. The focus is on the way we consume, even art, how much we want from the work and from ourselves. The works draw attention to the disgust and shame associated with the processes of ingesting and consuming, confronting the viewer with flesh and combining images drawn from life into the painting. In this, what may be food is pulled back to its original state – that of a dead animal, challenging the viewer to consider what this means.
