Frequencies of Memory
This painting is part of the series Riflessi del tempo (Reflections of Time), to which the other work I am presenting in this competition also belongs.
Frequencies of Memory originates from a moment of shared life: a venue alive with live music, with the presence of people and the energy of movement. Yet what I bring into painting is not the scene itself, but the way memory holds on to it. Faces lose their definition, outlines dissolve; through distortions, overlapping and chromatic vibrations the image becomes an emotional fragment, able to preserve the intensity of the moment without offering a faithful reproduction of it. Music, movement and human relationships are not described but evoked, in a fluid and unstable vision where the passing of time continually acts upon the image. The scene thus becomes a space suspended between presence and remembrance, between reality and perception: a reflection on the changing nature of memory and on the distance that separates lived experience from its inner persistence.
