With the intention of challenging the idea that art must represent beauty, my work draws on the essential elements of the grotesque, exploring concepts such as ugliness and the characteristics that define what is considered ugly through the figure of the monster. In doing so, it seeks to demonstrate that there is no single, universal standard of beauty.
Through painting, my canvases depict monstrous creatures that laugh at these judgments, placing themselves above the parameters that have labeled them as ugly. In this way, they assert the importance of a form of beauty that is not constrained by established norms.
These characters play with convention, creating a world turned upside down in which the monstrous becomes the highest expression of beauty precisely because it makes every being unique. They celebrate the individual traits that the established canon fails to acknowledge.
