“Escape Code” is a work from the Labyrinth series, more specifically the figurative QR Code Labyrinth series.
The surface presents itself as a labyrinthine landscape, its structure reminiscent of the geometry of a QR code: a sign of our digital age, a symbol of a technological language that codifies access to information and experiences.
The absence of a clear path suggests an existential condition: the difficulty of orienting oneself in the chaos of the present, amidst infinite possibilities and no certain direction.
The contrast between the rough materiality of the support, achieved with thick layers of dried earth, and the clarity of the underlying drawing evokes a dialogue between the real and the virtual, between nature and code, between dream and technology. The upper part of the canvas, worn and cracked, dissolves in a visual disintegration reminiscent of dreamlike interference.
The QR code labyrinth thus becomes a metaphor for the complexity of the present: a system in which orientation is difficult, where the search for meaning coexists with the illusion of predefined codes.
The work thus acts as a bridge between two worlds, offering a powerful image of contemporary man: a being on the move, both fragile and resilient, who inhabits complexity and incessantly seeks a way out or understanding.
