In my paintings frogs are a symbol of what I sometimes think a human should be. Frogs are a creature that jumps towards what they want whether that is food or a place that they want to go. I know it is a little more complicated for humans therefore we have a much harder time chasing what we want in life. People say that you need to take a leap of faith to chase what you want in life, well it seems like frogs are always taking a leap of faith. Quite literally too. The legless frog sitting in a chair represents a person who gave up on chasing what they want or never tried to, which led them to losing their ability and courage to jump at all, even gaining a tadpole tail. As humans live on they are supposed to be better at chasing what they want, to be happy but it seems like learning and “maturing” can cause side effects of getting worse and further away from something that you set out to achieve. Behind the dreamless man(frog) you can see a room filled with green light and frogs jumping around. This is a contrast from the man sitting down totally facing away from what he once indulged in or maybe never even tried. The mirror is also angled in a way where the man can not see the room behind him because if he sees the room it may make him think of the possibility that maybe he didn’t need to quit. Even though the two different rooms are filled with different lights it is not that different from the fact that they both have a dark mood. That is because even though I think taking a leap of faith is one of the most beautiful things in this world it doesn’t mean it is going to be beautiful. The room is still technically the same as the one the man is sitting in. The color and lighting doesn’t differentiate the room rather it shows the two contrasting approaches in one same dark world(room).
