Everything is interconnected, interdependent and interwoven. In the age of global change and mass movements, the painting shows "Scarlet Tanager and Quetzal" (the bird of the gods from South America), birds that are native to different regions of the earth and would never meet in the wild. On the surface, all you see are colourful birds on a branch and beauty. Only a closer look reveals irritations such as lines and dots that run across the animals and the picture like a grid. The calligraphic element, which resembles a branch, shows separation and emphasises the imbalance in size: the red bird, native to the USA and Canada, is smaller in nature than the two quetzals, which only find their natural habitat in a last protected area in Guatemala.
