When he speaks of Bonnard's work, Alain Lévêque evokes "a smiling tenderness against a background of worry and suffering". It is often said of my work that it seems melancholy, sadness. I answer that he is however very happy because happiness and melancholy go hand in hand, one is the contrast of the other. This drawing "Dis-moi où, je préfère t'attendre" is a real declaration of love. I am committed to draw moment of my life, it while remaining true to my vision of this moment. Without idealizing an ordinary reality, it is an absolute need to illuminate and freeze these times of life shared with loved ones not so ordinary. The halos, the positioning of the bodies, the light, the depth of the shadows and the leaf palm (symbol of martyrdom) that I use in my work, recall the sacred paintings of the Renaissance. These codes of religious representation bring me a feeling of calm and tend to sanctify my contemporary figures, witnesses of a life.
