Development

I am transgender. I was born female and now I am transitioning to male. This process is usually presented as a time of growth and blossoming into oneself. For me, it feels more like dissecting myself and analyzing the pieces, gaining a deeper and more intimate understanding of myself. This piece reflects this process of development. I am reimagining my life and body I have in a way that makes it possible to be myself. Due to all the changes I feel during hormone replacement therapy, I feel like a distorted mass constantly reforming itself until it finds its final form. This piece is said amalgamation of body parts trying to find where they fit. The color is inspired by the joy of this process, and the fabric is from clothing I used to make myself more feminine to hide my identity. I am still bound by rigid gender roles despite existing outside of them.
