For this project, I was inspired by a Thai boxing fight that I attended in an arena in Chiang Rai, Thailand. As a tourist, it was curiosity that led me to enter an environment I knew practically nothing about. After several official fights, there was an interlude with fighters who came to fight each other blindfolded. A kind of lighthearted referee tried to orchestrate this confusion of bodies while musicians played a strident and repetitive melody. To create this painting, I organized this chaotic moment by pictorially reproducing photographs according to a sort of linearity. That is to say, so that the ropes of the ring, much like a melody, punctuate the canvas horizontally.
