As an architect by background, I explore the relationship between nature and human-made forms. The delicate balance between the two captivates me and becomes the focus of my attention.
In this artwork, the geometric structures stand in stark contrast to the flowing form of the white peacock. For me, this bird symbolizes natural purity, its presence blurring the boundaries between the natural and the constructed worlds.
When I first saw this scene in Portugal, I was struck by its stillness and contrast. As I worked, my hand became a conduit for this moment of perception, translating what I saw into a dialogue between the organic and the architectural.
In a contemporary world moving towards posthumanism, where the boundaries between the organic and the mechanical, the natural and the artificial, are increasingly blurred, all binary constructs are being questioned. In this piece, I aim to bring the discourse back to a moment of pure observation, – where the eye captures the inherent beauty of these contrasts, and the hand faithfully translates it into a work of art. Through this process, I explore the tension between these dualities while also seeking to reconcile them through form and composition.
In line with Ruskin’s belief that creation is a deeply ethical and spiritual act, this piece reflects my commitment to observing the world with sincerity. Through the act of making, I aim to translate not just the physical forms but also the emotional resonance of the scene.
“Composition with a Peacock” is my attempt to turn observation into art, where the hand serves the eye in capturing the essence of both nature and structure.
