Castle in the Sand transforms a familiar childhood activity into a study of aspiration, imagination, and perseverance. Constructed from interlocking triangular forms, the sandcastle initially appears stable and believable. Yet closer observation reveals geometric impossibilities within its structure, while an open-eye flag and contradictory shadow encourage viewers to question their assumptions.
Through the visual language of play, this work invites multiple interpretations. The impossible architecture may suggest the power of imagination to transcend limitations, or it may raise questions about the foundations upon which ambition is built. By allowing both readings to coexist, the painting creates a space where curiosity, wonder, and skepticism become equally valuable tools for moving the world forward.
