With globalisation brought on by social media and the recent rise in AI usage, we have long entered an era when propaganda is being redefined to the point where it's barely recognisable. As we've seen with the coronavirus pandemic and the recent wars in Palestine and Ukraine, people are quick to believe and follow social media algorithms; we build our own internet-based safety nest of familiar and comforting opinions, and with the magic of targeted content we don't ever have to leave. We may later find ourselves become close-minded and radicalised, all the while being sure that our opinions are solely our own, if not factual.
With "Canon" I wanted to explore this feeling; the trust that we get to build ourselves up, to think our own thoughts -- bear our own fruit -- in spite of the seemingly innocuous bad actors lingering behind the scenes, slowly redesigning our beliefs until there is nothing left of the original, empathetic us.
