A hot and hectic Sunday in July in a pizzeria in Loano.
This pizza chef is alone and has to serve everyone in the restaurant: he kneads, bakes, takes the pizzas out of the oven and serves them, repeating these steps over and over again until the last customer has been served.
Not a word of thanks, just orders to take and customers to serve. He works vigorously, every second of his work is marked by a fast pace, he endures the sweat and tension, his eyes are wide. The pizza is cheap but excellent.
I wanted to paint this man to praise those who work hard every day, those who do humble jobs, those who work their asses off from morning to night and go unnoticed.
I am here to remind you that behind a well-served dish there are artisan hands, and those expert hands are moved by people worthy of being seen and remembered.
