Bushfires have ripped through the country countless times, and will continue to do so, leaving in their wake blackened gum trees and ravaged landscapes.
'Bushfire' captures the pure devastation that fire brings in the Australian landscape. It feels almost imminent, no path can be made through the fire. But after all this destruction, when the fire dies and the last ember fades, what is left?
Rebirth. The chance to start again, even in the face of it all burning away. I intended the piece to hold us in the moment of destruction, but to also pose the question of what comes next.
