This artwork is the representation of the Clock Tower of Jodhpur, India- my hometown- a place that has always felt like a meeting point of memory, movement, and identity. While the tower stands as a historic landmark, for me it represents something more personal: the rhythm of everyday life unfolding around it.
Jodhpur is often called The Blue City, and I wanted that identity to become more than a visual characteristic in the painting. The lower half of the structure dissolves into shades of blue, blending architecture with emotion and memory. The blue is not merely a representation of painted houses; it symbolizes belonging, nostalgia, and the atmosphere that surrounds the city. It reflects how places often live within us in fragments. Not exactly as they are, but as we remember and feel them.
The auto-rickshaws and human presence in the foreground bring attention to the ordinary life moving beneath the permanence of the tower. Time stands tall in the architecture, while daily life continues to flow around it. Through this piece, I wanted to explore the relationship between place and identity- how cities shape us, and how we carry pieces of home with us long after we leave them.
