My primary research area is the aesthetics of emotion. One area of interest is the expression of emotion in modern and contemporary art, and I'm interested in how the body can be used to convey emotional narratives in art. Currently, I'm working on a series of artistic projects focused on themes related to gender relations. The oil painting "Before the Sun Sets" is a case study in this theme. The image of a man drinking water initially inspired me to create this piece of art. Regarding the medium and technique, I avoided overly complex painting techniques, instead focusing on the narrative content of the painting. In constructing this narrative structure, I constantly questioned the people and events in the painting: How old is this man? What is his occupation? Should he be accompanied by a female character? What is the relationship between these two people? Are they husband and wife? Lovers? Partners? Where are they? What are they doing in the bedroom? Why are there scattered objects on the floor? Have they argued, or has something happened, or is something about to happen? ... Through this series of questions and explorations, this work ultimately took shape. I want to express some of the unspeakable things and emotions that are difficult to express in intimate relationships, and the body is a good carrier that can intuitively allow the viewer to feel the awkward and tense atmosphere in the picture.
