Art-safari is my personal journey through the boundaries between the familiar and the wild, between irony and sincerity. At the center is a banana with leopard spots. I wanted to give an everyday object a sense of character and inner strength. It became a symbol of instinct and wildness hidden beneath the surface of the ordinary.
The image references German street artist Thomas Baumgärtel — the Bananensprayer — who, since 1986, has been spraying yellow bananas on the facades of galleries he deems worthy. His banana is a mark of quality, freedom, underground spirit, and a subtle irony toward the art market. This idea resonates with me.
I reinterpreted the symbol in my own way: my banana is fierce, playful, dangerous, and at the same time, magnetic. The leopard print is a metaphor for hidden energy and feminine power.
The background evokes jungles, microscopic worlds, or underwater landscapes. It’s a living space, full of movement, where the viewer is invited to explore and find their own meaning.
I titled this work Art-safari because, to me, art is always an adventure — a hunt for the genuine and the rare. This painting is a manifesto of freedom, instinct, and visual boldness.
