The AGAR-series are paintings I created using a technique where I make an agar-agar bioplastic that I use in the same way as you would use a resin to lock in the pigments. These paintings are truly living paintings because the agar and the micro-algae pigments are combined in one fully biological organism in a way. Making these is a lot of physical work because the process of preparing the canvas, placing the pigments as you want, and then pouring the liquid bioplastic, then having to work quite quickly to decide on the way you let it dry. Pushes me to work very intuitively which I love because it really is the materiality that dictates the result of the painting. When looking back on the process I realize that it reflects the laws of nature as well because you don't have full control over things but you have to learn to work your way around it and learn to work with it.
