When creating "ACT- Lips and other imponderables", I wanted to explore what is hidden in the details of our body – in every wrinkle, in every fold, such as the mouth. In these small lines and textures I see our other identities, these unspoken stories that we carry within us. Looking at this painting, I feel that I managed to capture this idea. These two surfaces, separated by a grey stripe, are like fragments of the body – maybe the mouth, maybe the skin – that pulsate with pink and red, as if they wanted to tell something more.
Each scratch, each layer of paint that I applied, is for me like a record of emotions, experiences, all those imponderables that I mention in the title. The red lines that outline these forms are for me boundaries – but not rigid ones, but rather ones that can be crossed, because identity is fluid, multi-layered. I wanted the viewer, looking at this painting, to feel that there is something more hidden in these wrinkles, in these textures – maybe their own story, maybe my perspective on who we are. This is a very intimate work for me, because it reveals what we often hide, and what is so deeply human.
