Absent 02

Work 'Absent 02' is part of new work from 'Absent' series. I took my inspiration from photographs found at antiqits market near my village. In big old box I saw lot of pictures from family called Balkowscy.
Mrs. Zofia Balkowska received many postards and letters from her niece Julka.
Between letters I found pictures that moved me. People at pictures told me story to paint. But I deceided to take off faces and bodies from it and leave only siluettes. Thanks to that, everyone of us can put somebody from his mind to the white place on the canvas.
We all have losts, we miss someone.
Although landscape has a matter for me as well. It tells story about absent person, coincidences how and what for that person got to that place.
This painting brings a lot emotions to me and puts me to my younger years.
