Through my research process I have worked on five main installations, creating the exhibitions; STUDIO DEL FRAGILE
(The study of fragility) and STUDIO DEL PRESENTE (The study of the present): ATTO PRIMO, INTERMEZZO, ATTO
SECONDO and ATTO TERZO (first act, interlude, second act, third act). I am applying with four of them and this work is referring to STUDIO DEL PRESENTE: INTERMEZZO
STUDIO DEL PRESENTE: INTERMEZZO
A flight of stairs built into the hillside using red soil from Colli Berici (circa 20% clay, 20% sand, 20% silt), sand from the Adige river, straw, and water. Making it semi-permanent, under the imprint of humanity and through natural interactions and elements, the stairs will change and erode over time, eventually wearing down and dissolving back into the earth. For him, the work represents the precarious existence of humankind and is a study of transience, fragility, and decay.
THE FIVE INSTALLATIONS
Studio del Fragile
The first study emphasized the noticeable fragility of our time, highlighting the certain coherence between humanity and
nature, and the imprints that they cause each other. Humans and nature are interacting with the artworks separately
and cracks are preserved through time.
Studio del Presente: Atto Primo
The first act of the second part of the study, expresses how humanity and nature coexist and interact with each other through
time and constant change. We tend to forget to what extent humanity and nature are connected. Two copies of the same
artwork are placed indoor and outdoor. The relation and parallels between the artificial and natural are enhanced. Human
and nature interact simultaneously, leaving their own marks respectively on the indoor and outdoor artworks.
Studio del Presente: Intermezzo
The interlude: humans and nature are leaving their marks simultaneously on the same land art installation: a
rammed earth stairway. The audience is invited but not forced, to take part in the interaction.
Studio del Presente: Atto Secondo
With the second act the audience is forced to interact with the artwork through a dinner/performance. In the present, our
existence is finite and we are part of its process and decay. A functional installation made of rammed earth adobe bricks
creates the frame for community gatherings where people will directly interact with the artwork. During the following years,
nature will as well take part, leaving its imprints, bringing slowly to the end of the art piece. Human and nature are leaving
their marks simultaneously.
Studio del Presente: Atto Terzo
With the third and last act of STUDIO DEL PRESENTE the audience is as well the creator of the artwork. Forced to not only
interact but as well build the artwork through a workshop and performance. Human and nature are creating, building
and leaving their marks simultaneously until the end.
