The monument is a serious symbol of human life and history. I will use the fragile material of paper to express our human history. From prehistoric times to the time we live in, I have chosen to divide human history into 18 different monuments. Eighteen paper monuments of different sizes are arranged in sequence at the church door. The achievements of humanity have been accumulated in the long river of time and the volume of the monument has also increased. We have finally reached the top of the food chain, developed countless technologies and set our sights on the universe. However, these results are only a moment in terms of the scale of the universe. We are becoming more and more arrogant and disrespectful of the natural environment. Political, cultural and even racial issues flood our society. Will our monuments get bigger and bigger in the future?Or, one day we will destroy ourselves.
I have divided the important history of humanity into 18 periods on the basis of historical data, and each period corresponds to a monument. A certain period of time is written on each monumentⅠ 4.5 billion BC - 500 million BC (explosion of Cambrian life) 500 million BC - 95 million BC (emergence of mammals)Ⅱ 95 million BC - 2.4 million BC (the emergence of the human species) 2.5 million BC - 400,000 BC (early Paleolithic)Ⅲ 400,000 BC-50,000 BC (the emergence of Homo sapiens) 50,000 BC-10,000 BC (Mesolithic age)Ⅳ 10,000 BC - 3500 BC (Neolithic) 3500 BC - 1200 BC (Bronze Age, civilization and city)Ⅴ 1200 BC - 100 BC (Iron Age) 100 BC - 450 AD (The empire appeared)Ⅵ450 AD - 1000 AD (Human cultural exchanges accelerated and the Middle Ages began.)1000 AD - 1400 AD (Advanced technology and wealth accumulated from trade have expanded the possibilities of the world)Ⅶ1400 AD - 1760 AD (Renaissance)1760 AD - 1840 AD (First Industrial Revolution)Ⅷ1840 AD - 1914 AD (Second Industrial Revolution)1914 AD - 1950 AD (Beginning and end of the World War)Ⅸ1950 AD - 1985 AD (Aerospace, Internet)1985 AD - Present (This is the era we live in now)
Today's sun is no different from the sun of 100 million years ago Human history is only a moment in the universe. These tall monuments are like flimsy cardboard boxes, vulnerable to a single blow in the face of time.I believe these monuments will soon collapse, what awaits us humans. Will there be a species going extinct every hour on earth, will we be the next extinct species? The public can commute between these monuments and experience the fragility of our history. Over time, the cartoon will gradually damage, which is exactly what I want to express in this work.
