In October 2019, the two texts were symmetrically engraved on the ground in Munich.
“Please don’t vanish even if I can’t recall you.”
“Please let me believe even if you don’t exist.”
Munich — there is the place where everything for me as an artist began. This artwork was realized so that it could be seen from the window of the studio I used, shortly after I decided to move from Munich to another city.
The two texts came up from these questions that I had at the time:
When I forget something and can’t remember it, or when I can’t believe that something ever existed, will their existence disappear? What will happen to unrecognized facts? Where does the existence that has faded away from my consciousness go?
This artwork was backfilled soon after the completion of digging. The traces remained on the ground for about one year but then disappeared completely due to the regeneration of the lawn.
However, even though the texts completely disappeared, the fact that the artwork and I were there will always remain.
That was exactly my hope before I left.
