Earth Ouroboros documents the evolving transformation of a 60-meter circular land artwork observed across seasonal cycles. First inscribed in dry summer soil, the form later re-emerged in Spring as a ring of living grass — shaped not only by the artist’s gesture, but by time, weather, and organic regeneration, not dissimilar to a healing scar.
Created within Western Australia’s Wheatbelt, Earth Ouroboros draws attention to industrial agriculture and the profound transformation of ecosystems through land clearing. Positioned within a landscape where much of the original vegetation has been removed, the work invites consideration of the consequences for biodiversity, habitat loss, and the ongoing vulnerability of native flora and fauna. This temporal intervention reflects on impermanence, resilience, and the principle of the eternal return. It embodies the artist’s enduring inquiry into humanity’s entanglement with Nature. Through its gradual transformation and disappearance, Earth Ouroboros focusses on themes of relationship, consequence, reciprocity, and return.
