The installation is based on a autogenerative software, which generates exactly one piano piece for each geolocation of Antarctica. The Antarctis is visualized in 3D on a screen. Each geolocation is a music piece. The music is inspired by piano music from Arnold Schönberg. The data is based on a Database by The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (ACAN). The visitors will be taken on an immersive travel through Antarctic for the duration of 14982 music pieces and land marks.
You don’t have to listen to all of them!
Just six pieces and you will understand a lot about climatic change, the importance of sustainaibility and local acting.
Take your time!
Antarctica is a monumental data sculpture for an unknown continent, but also a very delicate detailed representation. Very few of us will visit this part of our earth in reality, but anyway we are dependent on this continent made of stones and ice. Many invisible parameters are crucial for human survival today. In this way we establish an archaic relationship between European modern music, artificial intelligence and this immensely large landscape.
Visitors can become part of this digital data version of Antarctis and get their own individual concert of 6 pieces for their home or gallery in an edition.
