The ideal feminine aesthetic is manifested through specific physical attributes of each culture, which have imposed – among many other consequences – the use of artificial means to implement them by women. Among the most common treatments there are also invasive interventions such as plastic surgery for purely aesthetic purposes (Female Genital Cosmetic Surgery) that in the last thirty years have led to the spread of a trend that has been given the name “designer vagina”.
This project focuses on the external part of the female genital organ, the vulva. The aim is to represent, through these tools, the boundary between a model of vulva that is generally understood as ideal, and reality, which is imperfect and unlimited,
and for this reason is crushed by these same tools to be able to bring the vulva within the standards of female beauty.
The vulva (plural vulvas or vulvae; derived from Latin for wrapper or covering) consists of the external female sex organs.
