Conflict enables a flurry of ideas, arouses an instability of emotions, motivates an uproar of bodies, and promotes a disturbance of certainties and patterns that ease, many times, the necessary clash for change.
Queerness is a power of transformation, it is the possibility and potentiality of blooming in a different way. Aspiring to another world, of care and connection, and an embrace of fluidity and freedom.
My artistic practice focuses on concepts of identity and belonging and issues around the mutability and transience of being, the individual, and the body.
This book is the agglomeration of a body of work produced during a time I felt lost. Moving to a foreign country - the Netherlands - at a young age to study fine arts, searching for meaning and for the essence of being, I found myself exploring the themes represented: Loss, growth into adulthood, patriotism, family, mental health, and identity in general. I ended up rediscovering myself through these written ideas and portraits (ones that showed me I had to accept the trans part of me).
This is a very dear piece to me, very personal - a door to my mind, conscious and subconscious.
