Hapsi is a group of forms resulting from the first phase of research on tactile-visual perception. The elements may exist as alternative therapeutic aids combining sensory deficit therapy with therapy through art. Hapsi were designed mainly for people on the autism spectrum.
During the design process, the main assumption was to create an object that would not evoke any associations with therapy, but have an artistic overtone. Objects can be viewed as sculptural forms on the border of haptic art. The resulting structures bring to mind folk art and nature, as some of them were inspired by the form of a coral.
The group is divided info: organic forms and wooden rollers. They differ in use, which is why their apparance is so different.
First group I present here are organic forms - sculptures. Objects can evoke associations with coral or budding yeast. The facilities were built on the basis of 3 modules, which were then connected with one other. The modules have round shapes, while the surface is variable - it can be smooth or rough.
In one of the objects, silicone elements evoking associations with spikes were used. Their sharp shape is in opposition to tactile sensations. This group also includes a form containing round, pastel-colored sponges that can be squeezed, stroked and even hugged. The sponges are made of an antibacterial material - soft microfiber.
