Windows illuminated at night
captivate with the myriad of lives they host.
Having explored the durability of
habitats in my oil paintings on crumpled canvas, I now look at these same
habitats from the point of view of an observer peering into the bright openings
of illuminated apartments.
Who hasn't felt the urge to peek
through a neighbor's lighted window at night? I've dared. I imagined lives and
sketched portraits of the inhabitants of these Habitats, their apartments and
buildings illuminated from within and by the reflected lights of the city.
My method: Scenes painted in oils,
scanned, compiled and digitally enhanced. They are reproduced on
semi-transparent Plexiglas, lit by conventional LED panels. I sign with an old pastel from my Toits de Paris series, which I introduce into the apartment of an art lover.
