Design-table includes: brateevsky pond layout, Polaroid, plasticine, pictograms, photos, audio material (headphones, player),magazines, books, and other printed material.
On Table-designer everyone can design own option arrangement of the pond, take a picture of the idea on the «Polaroid» and put it for the exhibition audience and the artist for further discussion.
The Brateevski containment pond was created in the Brateevo district in the south-east of Moscow in 1982. Across the lake there is an asymmetrical construction; a bridge with a concrete island where a boat station used to be situated.
Many changes have taken place over the years in this micro district: a shop was built on the south shore, a church on the north; the boat station is no longer there and the lake and its surroundings have fallen into decay. But the lake itself is still a focal point of the local landscape. People go for walks there, arrange dates and go fishing. Moreover it is an amenity for the local authorities, a place of interest for commercial structures, a territory to invest in and to create a recreational zone.
The artist ponders the future of the Brateevski pond and invites the locals to join her. She initiates and runs a public opinion research project, organizes discussions of the lake’s future fate and realistic plans for its upgrading. Implementing such a project will require a comprehensive collective effort – it will require the assistance of the local authorities, engineers, hydrologists, and architects. Working on this project will gauge the ability of the community to build a common future.
Description of the content of the material: Right side -archive photos of the pond, in the first years after the launch area. With the help of these photos it is possible to carry out one of the options for the arrangement - the restoration of the boat station, in accordance with the initial project of the Brateevo district. - arrangement option offered by Lenta hypermarket (located in the immediate vicinity of the pond). It is an implicit expansion of the territory of the shopping complex due to the removal of the recreation area, food area (cafe, sports grounds, rental, etc.) to the pond territory. - materials about the history of the district, about the protest movements of the 90s, which arose in the area of Brateevo. (Thesis of D.A. Levchik “Formation of public selfgovernment in Russia: territorial and production protest movements. 1988-1993”.)
left side: - photos with reconstruction options made by visitors of the exhibition - Polaroid pictures, which recorded the state of the pond at the moment. - magazines «Architecture and Construction of the USSR»
