The essence of the project was born from a Costa Rican reality that affects the natural diversity and health of the country. Due to the pandemic, second-hand stores were undoubtedly affected, around 140 stores were closed in the metropol area, reducing the oportunities for upcycle an conscious consumption.
Since then, consumption has dropped to 15% at a national level, however, the same amount of clothing that entered before the pandemic continued to be received. Two million tons a year hurt the country strongly, as the consumption fell and 20% of the garments were discarded and burned.
How can you innovate basic pieces of formal wear and turn them into designs with different sensations? This was the question that was asked to solve the problem.
The goal is to use reengineering and reconceptualization as the main point for the creative process. To rethink the structures of the basic pieces and give them a new body and visual leguage.
