The Afghan Girl is a painting created by weaving 6 colored threads around a circumference of 333 nails on a 100 x 100 cm square poplar wood support.
Martin sees art as freedom of expression, of fairness where every person can express their thoughts in no uncertain terms, without censorship. Inspired by Steve McCurry's war photographs, he saw a parallel in today's world with the friction between Russia and Ukraine. He thus wanted to celebrate the world's most famous "War Portrait" through his technique with wires, which skillfully intertwined, add feelings of melancholy and suggestiveness.
