Sara
Zunino (1987) grew up in Liguria, in Cavi di Lavagna (GE).
From
2001 to 2006 she attended the State Institute of Art in Chiavari,
then moved to Carrara where she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts
until 2012.
In
the laboratories of the Academy she learned to master 3D scanning,
digitally scanning part of the nineteenth-century statues belonging
to the Gypsotheque of the Academy of Carrara itself.
One of the most important acquisitions was the scanning of the
full-size historical copy of Michelangelo’s “Moses”, which -
later - became the basis for her thesis.
From
2013 to 2014 she did an internship at the Science and Technology
Foundation - First Museum of Florence, where she was the social media
manager for the campaign about the insertion of QR Codes in the
museum captions.
In
2014 she worked at the Museo Galileo - History of Science Institute
and Museum in Florence as winner of the scholarship “The science of
the sea. Planispheres and nautical atlases of the Museo Galileo".
During this work she carried out a historical research on portolans
and Renaissance nautical atlases for the re-elaboration of multimedia
maps for a virtual exhibition (in particular she worked for the
virtual exhibition "A land beyond the stars - Amerigo Vespucci
and Martin Waldseemüller’s planisphere"). She also worked on
the graphic renovation of the Museum app.
In
2016 began her experience in the world of teaching both in public and
private institutions, teaching plastic and sculptural disciplines,
art lab and art history.
After
having acquired the 1st level Ditals certification for the teaching
of Italian L2 (second language) to foreign students, she worked as a
teacher in literacy projects for migrants aimed mainly at
unaccompanied foreign minors (UAMs).
From
January 2019 she works at the Giufà Literacy Center of the
Municipality of Florence and teaches Italian L2 in primary school to
foreign children aged 6 to 11 in Florence
In
these years she has always pursued her personal artistic career
devoting herself to the discovery - or rediscovery - of natural forms
(microorganisms, insects and details of the biological world). Over
the years her interest has shifted towards the matter, its nature and
its capacity to transform itself, and the relationship between
physicality and space and between matter and void. Lately she is
investigating the themes of the territory and the relationship
between it and human beings.
