Yufeng Zhang was born in Beijing, China. Her mother is an accounting and her father was an artist, her father had a passion for art and music that he shared with his daughter. Yufeng was interested in art from a young age, she drew madly and happily and showed her boundless energy and theatrical imagination through painting. Yufeng first pursued her study in Industrial design, she earned her B.Eng. in Industrial design from Beijing University of technology and an MA in Industrial design at Tsinghua University. As a graduate at Tsinghua University, Yufeng participated in many meaningful and important projects, for example, the design work of opening and closing ceremony of the 2010 Asian Games. After graduating from Tsinghua University, she began her career as a museum designer to get close to art, culture, and human history that she is passionate about. During the period working as a lead museum designer in Beijing Qingshang, Yufeng completed many complex, huge museum experience design projects, E.g. world Expo museum, Changchun Film Studio museum, as well as many art installation projects. She transformed complex contents of museums into engaging, communicative experiences for audiences. Her approach to visual and interaction, choice of unusual settings, and understanding of history and culture helped the museums she worked with won great reputation, her work was highly praised by stakeholders, design experts and audience. Her passion for art was also rekindled during this time. "It was when I was busy designing and building things, I realized 'just being a designer' was out of reach, and there was something else I wanted to say, so I went back to art." Yufeng remembers. She decided to further her studies at Pratt Institute in New York, with the intention of becoming designer and artist and immerse herself in the ethnic and cultural diversity and vibrant mix of world influences. In New York, Yufeng got interested in the increasing digital mediation, informatism, and the reinforcement of biased thinking in our communications ecosystem. Also inspired by new media art and conceptual art in the New York scene, she started her experiment on motion and information art. She received an MS from Pratt Institute in 2018 with an MS degree in information experience design. Currently, she is resided and maintained studio in Princeton, New Jersey.
