Rachel is a self-taught 10 year old artist from the garden city of Singapore with only 2 seasons (rainy / summer throughout the year). Rachel aims to apply for the School of the Arts, Singapore when she graduates from primary school. Just a few months back, she has blossomed under the tutelage of Jolie Michelle Ow, founder and director of Canvass Life. At Canvass, Rachel started to learn about various paint techniques and grew in confidence to express herself through her paintings. To further pursue Rachel's passion in art, she has also joined Art Club as an extra-curricular activity in school. Here she was inspired to experiment with colors and textures - which brought an unique style that is influenced by Paul Jackson Pollock, an American painter and a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement and well-known for his unique style of drip painting.
Rachel's works depict colors where she draws inspiration from nature and through her travels, recently to Seoul, where she had the opportunity to capture the color transformation of autumn leaves.
Rachel's pieces includes the acrylic paint splattering technique that gives her works a clean and bold finish, with texture and depth.
Rachel is an introvert who finds her confidence and inner voice through art. She hopes to bring forth a message in her art pieces that
"imperfection is the new perfection" which resonates with her philosophy that formed the basis of her art pieces.
