Shohei Yoshida studied fundamentals of photography and anthropology at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. After graduating from the same university, he obtained a master's degree in anthropology at Western Michigan University. Upon returning to Japan, he began working as a professional photographer.  He chose wild orangutans as a subject to explore photographic expression clarified through the lens of anthropology. Meanwhile, to explore personal methods of expression, apprenticed under photographer Masato Seto at the photography gallery Place M in Shinjuku. Aimed to project fundamental life information, which also resonates with humans, and the spiritual inner world of orangutans into photographs by using techniques of street photography.
