Emiko Yoshida is a Japanese glass artist whose work explores traces of time embedded in plants and natural materials.
She studied sculpture at Kyoto College of Art (1988) and glassmaking at the Tokyo Glass Art Institute (1990).
Through years of research and experimentation, she developed a patented glass-firing technique that permanently fuses plant materials into glass without reducing them to ash.
Her practice focuses on transformation through heat, where organic forms are altered and fixed in a state between presence and absence.
Her works have been exhibited in Japan and internationally, including TAKUMI NEXT 2020 (organized by JETRO) and the Okinawa Prefectural Art Exhibition.
In 2026, she was awarded Finalist Award at the TERAVARNA 14th International Juried Art Competition, and also received recognition from the Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery (USA) in the “Botanicals” exhibition, including Top 5 3D Artists and 3D Special Merit Artist recognitions.
Her work reflects the coexistence of fragility and permanence in nature, preserving fleeting botanical forms as enduring traces within glass.
