I am Joy, a multidisciplinary artist from Taiwan. I have just graduated
from MA Contemporary Art Practice-Moving Image at Royal College of Art, London.
Additionally, in 2019, I completed a BFA fine arts degree at Taipei National
University of the Arts in Taiwan, and participated in the visiting exchange
program at Wimbledon College of Art, University of the Arts London in
2018. Through these years, I have exhibition, performance and art competition
experiences in UK, Taiwan and Macao in recent years.
I am a fictional storytelling enthusiast, often building narratives and bizarre
characters with diverse media to sculpture my imaginary world through
dismantled and reassemble daily life fragments’ observation. During my studies,
I have been exploring my passion on moving image, and trying to combine it with
different forms, especially focusing on the self-performance with the
hand-made models, which have native materials with intuitive colors and unique
shapes.
Besides, I also enjoy collaborating and working with people in different fields
which always brings me new perspectives and inspire practice pertaining to
new works. In 2017, I was a volunteer in World Stage Design, and also as a performer in the
performance ‘Seven Thousand Flakes’. Through these unique
experiences, I found out my interest specifically in theatrical spaces and
lights; thus, I had done some relevant research and embedded them into my later
practices.
