Yanis Khannoussi graduated from the National School of Fine Arts in Paris in 2021 after being trained in painting and the use of composite materials with first Dominique Gauthier, Marc Desgrandchamps, then Dominique Figarella and Ann Veronica Janssens.
After being interested in the gesture in the act of painting, in its materialization or its dematerialization, he quickly turned to the use of materials as well as industrial paints to finally appropriate the tools and techniques of body painters in the car industry. Thus, by spraying color, Yanis Khannoussi was able to fully work on erasing the gesture in his painting. In addition, he very early wanted to manufacture his own supports to allow the support to become subject in turn, that the form is at the service of the color.
Since graduating, Yanis Khannoussi has distinguished himself in two individual exhibitions. The first, “Callirhoé”, which had as its subject the myth of the birth of painting in ancient Greece, then “What the horizon hides from us” at the Dumonteil gallery, with whom he has been working since the beginning of 2022.
For the end of 2023 is planned his first individual exhibition in Shanghai with the Dumonteil gallery again.
