Mengying Yang’s artistic practice focuses on the fluidity and ruptures of situated identity. Drawing on ethnographic observation, she seeks to capture the subtle tensions individuals experience between migration, boundaries, and family. By employing ritual and metaphor as narrative frameworks, Yang’s work explores the emotional fractures and dilemmas of belonging that emerge within shifting geographical and social structures. Rather than mere representation, her projects reconstruct liminal states, enabling viewers to encounter the paradox of identity within the interplay of the familiar and the unfamiliar.
