Yana Dmitrieva is a contemporary artist who explores human fears and emotions, the challenges of self-identity in the modern world, and the themes of self-expression and women’s struggle for empowerment and the right to express themselves freely. Her work also delves into femininity and motherhood, reflecting on the emotional depth and complexity of these experiences.
Born in Russia, Yana now lives and works in Herceg Novi, Montenegro. After graduating from an art college and the Institute of Culture, she earned her degree as an artist — fulfilling a lifelong dream.
Despite her academic background, Yana is more drawn to contemporary art for its emotional and philosophical depth. For her, art is a way to communicate with the viewer about hidden human fears, inner struggles, and the pressures of external circumstances in a complex and turbulent world. Through her paintings, she seeks to reveal individual strength and uniqueness, to give voice to thoughts and feelings that are often suppressed or unspoken in modern society.
Yana works primarily with oil on canvas, as well as watercolor and colored pencils, creating art that unites sensitivity, strength, and introspection.
