Biography I was born in Suzhou, China and grew up in Chongming County, Shanghai, and Urumqi, Xinjiang, China. Since 3 years old I had a passion for drawing and from primary school to university. I was also nominated in charge of the design work of the news board for the class and later on for the department of computing science department. It gave me the opportunity to show my art and design skills as well as helping the school out.
In my third year computing science study at the university in China in 1998, I got given an opportunity to come to New Zealand and complete my degree at the Computing & Mathematical Sciences Department, the University of Waikato specializing in Multimedia and Computer Graphics in Hamilton. Worked as a web designer and flash developer in Hamilton specializing in Multimedia and Computer Graphics. I then worked as a web designer and flash developer in Hamilton for a while and then moved to Auckland to live & work on multimedia programming.
However, after a few years, I found myself uncertain about my career path and constantly felt inadequate about my everyday life in general. So I quit the workforce and rekindled my love of drawing and painting weekly at Toi Ora, a creative and supportive space for adults. Under the teaching staff members? kind support, I regained my confidence and realized that a Quarter Life Crisis is solved by following one?s truest passion.
In 2010, I was selected to study at Elam School of Fine Arts at Auckland University to advance my knowledge and skills in art/design. Having an on-going interest in the intersection of the fields of Art, Design, and Technology, I am pursuing a career in the creative industry.
Artist StatementInspired by nature, science&technology, cultural elements, and everyday objects.
