To the dear judges and fellow artists,
pleasure to meet you:
My name is Yang. This is my first time participating in a competition as grand as this. I am 20 years of age, and I have been considering myself an artist since I was 14. I was born in China, but the circumstances of my birth are largely irrelavant to the subject of my paintings. Lets just say that my upbringing has been a rocky one, which in a subconscious way might have made me more sensitive to the emotional sufferings of humanity. Before I left my home country, during the national arts examination, I, who was given much credibility for my ability to cope with exams, chose to approach these exams in my own stylistic methods, which resulted in two things: First of which being me not getting accepted by any of the art academies in Mainland China; secondly, I realized that my pursuit in art is not that of a materialistic one. And indeed, due to the current liberty that I have over my subjects, I feel more capable of creating artwork that are more to my liking. To that end, I see my participation in this competition as a challenge to my creative ability and an opportunity to potentially obtain some scholarly comments. Please do feel free to reach out to me if you enjoy or maybe disapprove my works. I will be more than happy.
Yours truly,
Yang
