Education
I studied
philosophy at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, then after a few years' break I took up studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, on the
specialization of Cultural Management (bachelor's studies), later on the
specialization of Artistic Criticism (master's studies) and Intermedia
(master's studies). Currently, I am a third-year student of Interfaculty
Community Doctoral Studies (Faculty of Sculpture and Intermedia). Since 2018, I
have been a graduate student of Postgraduate Scandinavian Studies on the
specialization of Norwegian Philology (Gdansk University).
Work
This
subsection is not easy for me because it is hard for me to separate work from
the involvement, because work is usually an idea that "carries" me, that "assigns" me to a given work. Thereby, I should start by mentioning the
collaboration (in the high school times) with Stowarzyszenie Trzeci Teatr w
Drodze and co-organization of the OFF Theatre Presentations in Bydgoszcz. After
this experience, quite concisely I explored other theatrical paths, among
others, being a programme employee of the Theatre Stage in Klub Zak in Gdansk,
working with Jan Klata as a playwright and assistant of a director, and ending
with a few years' artistic collaboration with the Polish Theatre in Bydgoszcz
under the direction of Pawel Lysak. In each mentioned place, it was not about
gaining work experience, but giving oneself to the artistic vision and a deep
belief in power and sense of creational activities. That is why, because of
this devotion, this involvement, it is hard for me to think about work
experience, that I could sum up and define with the number of realized
workshops, plays, festivals, meetings and people, of which majority, if not all
of them, remained in my memory, of done classes and exhibitions. After
finishing the studies on the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, I started a
collaboration with the Academy as an educator and again, I do not know how to
present my experience of meeting with students. Several matters line up here:
the belief in exchange, open education and the horror of responsibility that
rests upon a lecturer. I think that all these elements can be found in my
visible involvement: in the organized exhibitions, open-airs and projects, made
together with and for students. The possibility of introducing the premise of
open education fascinates me, or maybe it is just passion with which I devote
myself to work? Because my work is also my creations.
Artistic activity
Work in progress. To be
in a constant process. To be careful. Verify yourself, verify the premise of
the works and undertaken activities.
To be on the way.
My works very often
align in cycles. My works very often have a tendency to develop themselves - they create open cycles that could
become a project for a long, long time.
My actions are actions
on a microscale, this is their starting point.
I believe in contact with a viewer, and the viewer I
care for, I find in local communities.
I am interested in this
viewer, that we do not see in culture institutions, I am curious why they are
not there.
After all, the fact
that they are not there does not mean that they do not exist at all.
Thereby, the process of
the viewer meeting with me and my works I count as my artistic activity.
Because not only the
meeting with the works becomes important, but also our meeting (performative
actions) is being open to the new.
