Alex Z. Wang is a New York–based Chinese abstract artist working across painting, works on paper, and photography. His practice explores atmosphere, movement, and emotional resonance through layered compositions that evoke fleeting states of memory and sensation. Deeply informed by dance and performance, his work reflects a search for stillness within motion and structure within spontaneity.
Wang’s work has been exhibited at many art fairs and galleries in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Santa Fe, Paris, and Spannocchia. His paintings and alcohol ink works have been acquired by private collectors in the United States, Europe, and China. Prior to transitioning into full-time artmaking, Wang spent over a decade as a strategic advisor to global fashion and luxury brands, a background that informs his refined aesthetic sensibility and conceptual rigor.
He studied at Parsons School of Design, the Art Students League of New York, and Cooper Union, and is a Young Patron of several major New York cultural institutions. His current practice investigates impermanence, abstraction as emotional language, and the power of visual rhythm to displace narrative.
