Born and raised in Bermuda, Miniya Wainwright draws inspiration from the island’s rich culture incorporating its vibrant colors and traditions into her work. Her art delves into personal trauma, reflection, and the journey of healing, using creativity as a powerful tool for self-discovery and resilience. Working primarily in acrylic and oils, she creates expressive portraits that explore the complexities of identity and memory. Embroidery is often incorporated into her pieces, adding layers of texture and symbolism that represent delicacy and the mending process.
Recent graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Painting, Miniya Wainwright is pursuing her passion for art intending to become an art therapist. She strongly believes in the transformative power of art to heal and empower individuals, using her practice to bridge the gap between emotional expression and artistic creation.
