Megan Vanbuskirk is a 35-year-old artist residing in the desert of Phoenix, Arizona. Her artistic work is currently focused on figurative mixed media paintings, with the center of attention being the human form.
Megan has been invited to participate in numerous group shows across the valley, showcasing her colorful and at times grotesque artworks. In February of 2023, she celebrated a milestone in her artistic career with her first solo exhibition. Her distinctive pieces have been displayed on the walls of galleries, cafes, bars, and hotels throughout Phoenix, captivating viewers and resonating with their deep emotive qualities.
With a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Arizona State University, where she specialized in ceramics, Megan has also dedicated herself to teaching art to high school students for the past eight years. Her passion for education and artistic expression has led her to serve as the department chair, guiding aspiring young artists to create without fear of failure.
Working from her personal studio in Phoenix, Megan delves into the realm of the subconscious, infusing her works with elements of compassion, introspection, and eerie beauty. Her thought-provoking pieces explore a range of themes, including the complexities of human relationships and the female experience; encompassing themes of trauma, hope, power dynamics, and societal structures.
Megan's artistic ambitions continue to evolve as she sets her sights on pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Chile in Santiago in March.
