No-Nonsense-Art
End 2014, I had just turned 50, I caught myself thinking that I just didn't have time for myself .
You can make EVERYTHING a priority, but what about myself ?
It was time for some "me-time", time to try some new things, to explore the world of "art" ... more
specifically the art of "painting" !
I couldn't paint, draw or ...
I had a 'scientific' and 'commercial' background, but I said to myself ...
"Let's do this !" " Believe " " Go on "
Every famous, successful artist started somewhere. Every successful artist had a first piece, a first
subject, a first failure, a first critique, a first supporter, a first buyer and many other firsts...
So without further ado, let's dive into this... Let's try something new, just for fun, just to escape the
everyday stresses and to "de-connect".
"Trying something new forces you to grow"!.
So I started my creative journey on my day off. Every Friday I joined some other paint-lovers and
started painting with Aquarelle ... not exactly the easiest technique for beginners!
After about three years, someone suggested that I try working with acrylics, as my painting style
was a bit too structured for aquarelle.
In the beginning my paintings were based on existing art, pictures or images. Gradually I started
painting 'out of the blue' - 'no-nonsense' ... just whatever came to my mind ...
At the end of 2021, we moved, and hoped to have more time for painting, more time to develop
and improve my skills but I needed to get out there - to promote it, to attract a gallery's attention
and to have my art seen!
Over time, I've taken part in different exhibitions - some with specific themes, others organized by
local art groups.
But in 2025, I'm proud to be participating for the first time in a more professional
exhibition "Art Point" , this twice ! - and I'll be doing it again later this year in 26!
Over the past seven years, I also discovered a love for ceramics - especially pottery - and more
recently, I've started to explore sculpture as well.
I've learned that there are no real limits out here; the only limits are the ones we set for ourselves!
"Dream, believe, and take action".
"Start small, dream big, and never give up"
That's the reason behind this portfolio - a reflection of my journey over the years.
