Naomi Treistman (B. 1996 Lima, Peru) is a Jewish Peruvian multidisciplinary artist based in NYC. She started her undergraduate studies in Lima, at the art institute Corriente Alterna, and graduated with a BFA in Visual and Critical Studies at the School of Visual Arts in 2021, where se was awarded the Rhodes Family Award. She has concluded residencies in SVA (NYC), SOMA (Mexico City) and Studio DFB (Rome), and has exhibited her work in Peru, Mexico, Italy and New York. Treistman’s side practice as a production designer is reflected on the immersive environment of her work, which reveals unnatural spaces that discern a natural relatability. Her work covers concepts of intimacy, memory, affliction, subversive nature, internalized colonialism and systems of domesticity — synthesized as paintings, video performances, installations, ephemeral mixed media sculptures and ceramics.
